Central Planning In Colleyville

The City of Colleyville appears ready to allow the construction of a bank across from Colleyville Town Center, according to the Fort Worth Star-Telegram, despite concerns that banks do not generate sales tax. C'ville bought the property at the southwest corner of Church St. and Colleyville Blvd. about 6 years ago to secure right of way for development . City leaders had hoped the property would eventually generate tax revenue. Of course this is the same moronic bunch that has granted millions of dollars worth of tax breaks to the developer of Colleyville Town Center. So apparently, the council expects every business except those that locate in the faux Italian village know as C'ville Town Center to pay their fair share of taxes. The S-T quotes resident Kathy Hadley as telling the council to leave the zoning alone. "We do not need another bank," she said. "Please think about what's best for the city." Someone should tell Ms. Hadley that governmental central planning of the economy was tried before. The Soviet Union gave up on the idea.
